Minecraft Inventory Redesign
From conducting in person interviews, I’ve asked users who have played the game the broad question of “how does the inventory system feel for you to use” , I was given many varied results.
A few pain points that have resulted in these user iterviews such as:
1.The actual inventory screen can get so cluttered that it makes it difficult to find specific items
2.Mods are used to help aid in the usability and clarity of the interface system
3.A lot of time is taken moving items to and from the main inventory
The problem statement I was to solve was that Minecraft’s inventory system feels “clunky” and sometimes “strenuous” to use when transferring and using items. Moving items between the inventory itself and chests can be a struggle for different players, resulting in different approaches to tolerate it.

I asked the users I interviewed what version of the game they played on and the majority is Java users with one playing bedrock and a case where a user played both.
I followed up with asking how they traverse the UI in regards to moving items. The Java edition players all used mods, whereas the bedrock player did not
I also asked players broadly what kind of player they are to see of there were any similarities in problems across different playstyles.
After collating the responses, it seemed like there were in fact similarities between the different types of players that shared frustrations

Next I asked how easy it is to find items in a filled inventory as both types of players I defined shared similarly. From the results, it seemed like people found finding items to be difficult and manageable.
I also asked how users experience with the interface felt which resulted in individuals needing the use of mods or thought it was clunky to use.
Wireframe Solution
This is another UI screen that is found in the main inventory screen, similar to the crafting guide menu. This menu uses the same real estate as the crafting guide and uses symbols from the creative menu to distinguish item categories. These categories would allow the player to save "preferences" for specific types of items they would like.
